Some people want to see and do more by bike, but have a hard time pedaling long distances, up hills or over rough terrains. That’s where electric bikes offer the best of all worlds – experience the great outdoors without the strenuous workout, cover long distances in a breeze, and keep up with fellow bikers.

If you are the competitive type Mammoth Mountain is having its annual (http://www.tldboschboogaloo.com) Boogaloo Class 1 Electric Mountain Bike (eMTB) Race Race sponsored by Bosch and Troy Lee Designs. The race series will be held on two unique courses specifically designed for eMTB racers. Expect near vertical ascents, killer drops, obstacles, berms, and more that will take you and your eMTB to the limits of what you thought possible on two wheels. Each race will be divided into three separate classes: the Pro Class, the Bosch “Race of Champions” Class for amateur athletes, and an “Industry” class. The series kicks off on July 23 at Snow Summit in Big Bear, CA in conjunction with the California Enduro Series and Crafts & Cranks Festival. The second leg of the series kicks-off on September 16 at Mammoth Mountain in conjunction with the Kamikaze Games of 2017 USA Cycling Pro Gravity Tour.

eMountain Bike Trail Riding Etiquette Tips

Riding an eBike is healthy and fun off road, but here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Wear a helmet: As with any bike, wearing a helmet enhances rider safety.

Be prepared: Think about what you will need to keep supplied, especially if you are traveling long distances, or over rough terrain. Have plenty of water and some healthy snacks. Make sure your phone is fully charged, and have a trail map available. Let someone know where you’re going, and when you expect to return, especially if biking alone.

Ride with a bell: Even with electric bicycles, some riders might not be able to hear you riding on a trail. Come in our stores and pick up a bell or most trails have a bell box you can pick one up and attach to your bike just be sure to return it.

Legalities: eBikes are accepted on most mountain trails as long as they are a Class 1 ebike which is a pedal assisted non throttle 20 mph maximum speed bike. For more in formation on the legalities please visit our regulation page.
